Συμμετοχή προπτυχιακών φοιτητών στην έρευνα
Η Μαθηματική Επιστήμη, λόγω της θεωρητικής και μεθοδολογικής φύσης της, δε σχετίζεται με καθαρά εργαστηριακό ή με κλινικό έργο. Λόγω αυτού του γεγονότος, παρότι η συμμετοχή προπτυχιακών φοιτητών στη διαδικασία παραγωγής δημοσιεύσιμων ερευνητικών αποτελεσμάτων είναι ευκταία, στο συντριπτικό ποσοστό του ερευνητικού εύρους των Μαθηματικών, δυστυχώς είναι πρακτικά αδύνατη, όπως σαφώς καταδεικνύει και η διεθνής πρακτική. Παρόλα αυτά, σε ερευνητικά αντικείμενα που κείτονται εξ ολοκλήρου εντός του πρακτικά εφαρμοσμένου μέρους του φάσματος των Μαθηματικών είναι εφικτή η, κατά περίπτωση, παρέκκλιση από αυτόν τον κανόνα.
